What is an Enduring Power of Attorney?
The enduring power of attorney was used prior to the introduction of the lasting power of attorney.
Although the law changed in 2007, an enduring power of attorney (or EPA) made earlier will still be valid.
Unlike the LPA, the old EPA did not need to be registered when the document was made. However, the enduring power must still be registered when the person concerned loses mental capacity.
How Court of Protection Lawyers can help you
We can advise on whether the EPA is valid and, if so, assist with the registration of it.
We can also advise in relation to anyone wishing to object to registration or deal with an objection to an EPA.
Our specialist solicitors can help attorneys appointed under an enduring power to carry out their responsibilities and advise on the powers available to them.
